Should I Let My 14 Year Old Daughter Listen To Eminem?
I asked before, and some people suggested that I listen to his song before I let my daughter buy his CD. His song is very inappropriate! Is bad, bad music. Some people told me that it would not harm my daughter because she already knows what he is talking about. They also said that if she want to buy the CD then she must already listen to the song.
I am confused, what should I do? Would you let your daughter of that age to listen to the music?

Sure. I’m going to be 15 on Saturday, and whatever messages the media tries to dig into my mind, I’ve learned to ignore it. If she’s a good kid in honors classes, I’m sure she’s smart enough to not fall for “the horrible media messages” ect ect.
My parents never censored what I watched and listened to really, and my dad actually encouraged I listen to stuff like Green Day. And I’ve got straight As. Let her listen, it won’t hurt her.
I’ve listened to eminem since like, 6th grade.

Well, I’m fifteen, and I’ve been listening to his music probably since he came out (I have an older sister.) His songs didn’t influence me to do any of the things that he talks about, and it didn’t make me a bad kid today. Don’t shelter your child; I’m sure anything the Eminem says in his music is nothing that she doesn’t hear in the hall at school. I’m sure she’s heard cursing and other ‘vulgar’ music; it’s not going to turn her into a hoodlum because she listened to Eminem.
I wouldn’t stress over it. She’s becoming a teenager; you’re going to have to let her grow up some.

Since eminem makes his music specifically to trick your daughter into doing things that would ruin her life….that would be no.
You need to understand the motivation of the people who make music, movies, and other media, like this. Is it to make money? No, it’s not. They are part of a movement that hates you, hates your family and understands that popular media is an effective tool to destroy you by controlling your mind.
As the adult, it’s YOUR responsibility to prevent that from happening. And if you don’t understand what a very big deal this is, the bad guys have already won.

Years ago my younger sister listened to his music and it just disgusted me. He and his music are repulsive. So no I wouldn’t let my kid (of any age) listen to it. I don’t think any young kid should listen to it. Obviously your daughter has heard of him and his music if she wants to buy his CD, but it can stop there. Allowing her to have the CD is encouraging her that his music is OK. Everyone in the world is going to be exposed to bad things, to some degree. But it is important that we remain clear on what is acceptable and not (and the content of his music IS NOT!).

Let her listen to it, its just music which everyone else listens to. Hes sold over millions of albums, and his music is not bad, they were in his older cds, but ones like encore, his last solo one is talking about his life and the language isnt as explict as in the other ones. Im an honor student, sont see me going bad!

Well if she is a good kid you have to think about how much she is pessured in school and she must be handleing it well, let her listen to it or she may rebel against you later. She is expressing herself. she’s 14 and sound to me like she is capable of being a good kid she is just being a teen let her

I listened to Gun N’ Roses and all kinds of rock and roll, and it didn’t influence me in any way.

Wow… I make straight A’s and aceive many awards. And i LOVE his music. Have you seen me doing anything his music talks about? A couple yes can be crude. But she herself can choose not to listen to those one or two songs. Shes smart. Us teens arent stupid. Quite acting like we are.
And- actually- listening to eminem brought me out of my depression.
And my happiest day was with my dad rapping along to eminem.
Let her listen to watever she wants to. Trust me. She will listen to him anyway!

She’s going to listen to it anyways no matter what you tell her to do. You can’t really control what music people listen to. Besides, just because you personally don’t like it doesn’t mean that you get to say whether or not other people can.
Eminem does NOT make music to control people, that’s just stupid. A lot of his lyrics too are about stupid people who think like that…

al people who say no answer short and without proof that it will hurt you daughter,

Eminem is not a bad person like most those rappers that rap about women and just make music just to diss other rappers! Eminem makes music to send messages to young kids like in the song Mockingbird he sings about his daughter and in Lose yourself he sings about chasing your dream! He sings about life, yes he used to make music that was a little dirty and inappropriate. Im 13 and I have been listening to eminem since I was 5 and ever since Ive loved it! His lyrics are real and amazing hes not like thos douchebags that sing like oh im rich and I got a bunch of hoes in my house! eminems not like that and neither are a whole bunch of rappers like 2pac shakur and The Notorious BIG so let your daughter listen to Eminem!

Well, i’d say let her listen because if you say ‘no’ she’ll feel like you don’t trust her and she’ll be rebellious and listen anyway. Would you rather her not have to lie to you about it? Go ahead and let her get the cd. It’ll pay off in the long run. Trust me.

Dude, You have to losen up a little! My Dad is a saftey freak, trust me. Once he didn’t let me go on a rollercoaster because it looked too dangerous, I got to go, but I had to wear a bike helmet! And he is a REALLY GOOD DAD, even thugh he can be a saftey freak, he raps to eminem with me, he does some, I do some, and I’m 11! Your daughter is 14, GIVE HER FREEDOM! Let her listen to eminem , I’m 14 and theres nothing wrong with him.
My mom has always told me I can listen to what I want as long as I dont repeat the bad words. Eminem sings about life and his daughter not about doing a girl like Lil wayne , and Wiz Khalifa and all the others. Eminem is actually one of the best rappers out there.
